The Spatial Distribution of Educational Resources in Sri Lanka
Ranking highest in the Human Development Index for the South Asia region, Sri Lanka has long been proud of its education system. The current project is an attempt to investigate how the distribution of education resources influence the labor market outcomes for the individuals. In doing so, I combine two datasets: Household Income and Expenditure and Census of State Schools in Sri Lanka. Using GIS techniques I am able to match the educational resources at the Divisional Secretariat level (equivalent of a US county) which is the most disaggregate form of analysis performed in the context of Sri Lanka.
